Some people ask what makes Ducati bikes so desirable. If you don’t know anything about motorcycles, you don’t know that Ducati has been around since 1926. They are an Italian company with about 1,200 employees and they really know what they are doing. Therefore, they had plenty of time to get their names out there. Since then, they have enjoyed great popularity every year. One reason this motorcycle manufacturer is so desirable is because it is everything it makes. They only specialize in motorcycles and motorbikes (excluding accessories and merchandise). They are also not ordinary motorcycles as they are powerful. Riding one of these bikes gives kids a similar feeling on Christmas Day. There are four main reasons these bikes are so desirable. Well, five, one of which is the Italian’s passion, but we won’t really go into that here.
The four most important reasons for craving are easy to name.
1. Speed:
Just by seeing a “Duc” many people would assume they are fast. There’s no denying that there are thrills out there. Many of these people want the fastest car or motorcycle in the world. That’s about what you’ll get with a Ducati. The truth is, unless you’re a stunt fiend on a closed track, you’ll never (hopefully) get the full speed of a newer Ducati on the road. These bikes smoke everything out of the water on four wheels. The Ducati 1098 has been said to have a zero to sixty mph time of under three seconds! Also let’s make an important point that they have air cooled motors to cool them down.
2. Style / Design:
These bikes are extremely unique because they are designed and not “decorated”. I believe these are the most stylish bikes money can buy. They also bring the high-performance engine to life in the design of the bike. Inside and out, these bikes can last a lifetime and longer. As Ducati says: “Evolved from the stopwatch. Designed by the racetrack.”
3. Proven racing successes:
Ducati has a long racing history, they love to win and they have LOTS of titles behind them. Let’s start with a title in 2007 at the MotoGP World Championship. How about thirteen coveted titles in the Superbike World Championship (SBK) from 1990 to 2008? Four of them were won on a Ducati 916. That’s not all, ladies and gentlemen, eight titles in the British Superbike Championship and two in the AMA Superbike Championship! These bikes obviously can race and the track results are there to prove it.
4. Enthusiast Groups:
A very smart thing that Ducati has focused on since the 1990s is marketing. They have compiled many things related to branding efforts. This includes online communities and local enthusiast groups around the world that offer exclusive Ducati insurance. Here are some numbers by group: 400 Ducati Clubs worldwide, 20,000 registered users of the Ducati Owners Club website and 17,000 subscribers to the racing website. People have their eyes on upcoming models and many are buying them on the day of release. If you haven’t had a chance to see one in action let alone drive one, this is highly recommended!
